Wednesday Evenings 6.00 - 8.00 starting 15th September: 8 sessions

An Eight week course working from professional male and female models in a variety of short and long poses. This is both an introduction for those new to life class as well as an opportunity for the more confident and experienced to develop their skills further in a friendly atmosphere.

Dates: 15/22/29 September, 6/13 October     3/10/17 November

Cost: £120 (drawing boards/easels provided; bring your own materials; paper will be available to purchase)

 

 

Drawing: An Introduction                                               

Thursday Afternoons 2 - 4pm starting 16^th  September 8 Sessions

 A good course for beginners or those who would like to develop their skills. Eight classes, using many different techniques, designed to build up your skills and personal confidence in a range of different media and subjects.  The atmosphere will be friendly and informal, so if you really are worried that you 'can't draw for toffee' then this is the course to prove to yourself that you can.  Some of the basic materials (and toffees) will be provided.

 Painting:  An Introduction to Acrylics on Canvas 

Saturday 27th March 2010 10.00am - 3.30pm

Caterham School Art Studios

The workshop is aimed at people who would like to try their hand at developing and discovering their skills in painting.   Acrylics, for those unfamiliar with them, can be used in a similar way to traditional media such as oils or watercolours and also offer many other exciting possibilities and working techniques. To make the most of the medium (and to get everyone in the mood for Spring!) the subject will be bold and colourful, incorporating natural forms such as flowers. The day will start with some fun warm-up exercises on paper and build up to a finished painting on canvas to take home at the end of the day.

 Course Price: £45 - A canvas, paper and easel will be provided.

(A few basic acrylic paints will be available but particpants should bring along their own set of colours.  Please contact me if you need further advice on this.)

Printmaking: Building on the Basics:                     

Thursday Evenings 7.00 - 9.00 starting 21st January: 8 sessions

Learn how to work in relief and intaglio. An Eight week course which will include techniques of monoprinting, drypoint etching, etching with acid, block print etc. You will learn how to cut a block, prepare and make a copper printing plate, use a studio etching press etc. and edition your own prints.

Dates: 21/28 January / 4/11/25 February /4/11/18 March

Cost: £115 (includes all basic materials for the course and use of tools/equipment)

 

Caterham School Directions & Map

By Road from M25 :

At Junction 6, take the A22 northbound for about a mile. At the traffic lights bear left at the signpost for Caterham on the B2030. In the town turn left at the roundabout and then take first left into Harestone Valley Road. Across the mini roundabout bearing right and carry along Harestone Valley Road towards the school which is on the left after approximately 3/4 mile. 

NB Avoid 'Satnav' and other map/directions services as they direct you wrongly in this area; usually onto a totally impassable track through the woods! (You have been warned!).

By Rail :

Caterham Railway Station is a 15 minute walk away from the school. Taxis are available at the station.  There are no regular bus services from Caterham town to the School.

Art Studios:

The studio we are using for most of the courses is situated on the upper floor of the Art & Design Faculty building which overlooks the main playing fields. If you park your car in the main car park in front of the School, you can walk along the front of the buildings. Go left up the steps at the end of all the buildings, and then left again when you get to the top. Walk along the path and the studio is accessed by the door on your left at the end.
